Foster The People melden sich 2024 nach drei Jahren mit neuer Musik zurück. Just in time für den Sommer veröffentlicht die dreifach Grammy-nominierte Multiplatin-Band einen Song, der strahlt wie die Sonne oder wahlweise wie ein glitzerndes Disco-Outfit, denn »Lost In Space« ist getragen von jeder Menge Late-70s-Großartigkeit. Mit »Lost In Space« feiern Foster The People ihr Debüt bei Atlantic Records und kündigen gleichzeitig ihr viertes Studioalbum an. Es trägt den Titel »Paradise State of Mind» und wird sieben Jahre nach dem letzten Longplayer ›Sacred Hearts Club‹ mit Spannung erwartet.
›Das Album begann als Fallstudie über das Crossover von Disco, Funk, Gospel, Jazz und all diesen Sounds der späten 70er-Jahre. Es war eine ganz besondere Zeit, in der sich diese verschiedenen Musikstile gegenseitig zitierten – Künstler wie Nile Rogers und Chic, der Tom Tom Club und Giorgio Moroder«, sagt Mark Foster. ›Ich wollte in diese Zeit eintauchen und ein Gefühl dafür bekommen, was damals los war. Ich dachte auch darüber nach, welche musikalischen und gesellschaftlichen Parallelen es zu unserer Zeit gibt, mit der massiven Rezession in den Siebzigern, den politischen Unruhen nach Vietnam und anderen großen Spannungen. Und dann hat man im Kontrast dazu eine Musik, in der sich pure Freude ausdrückt. Man kommt nicht umhin, darin eine trotzige Geste des Widerstands zu sehen.‹
Foster The People
Foster the People
was founded by Mark Foster in Los Angeles in 2009. The group achieved success with the 2011 release of their debut album Torches, which has sold nearly two million albums and over ten million singles worldwide. Torches features the #1 hit single "Pumped Up Kicks," which was declared "the year's anthem" by SPIN, and also spawned the chart topping singles "Don't Stop (Color On The Walls)," "Houdini," and "Helena Beat." Foster the People garnered three Grammy nominations for their monumental debut, including Best Alternative Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Pumped Up Kicks" and Best Short Form Music Video for "Houdini."
Foster the People's sophomore album, Supermodel, was released on March 18th, 2014. Produced by Paul Epworth and recorded in various locations around the world, the album reached number three on the U.S. album chart. Two singles, "Coming of Age" and "Best Friend", hit the Top Ten of the alternative chart.
