Info for Foxy Orthodoxy

The album, Foxy Orthodoxy, is inspired by acts like Courtney Barnett, Alvvays, The Lemonheads, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Surfer Blood and Built To Spill. With an acoustic guitar borrowed from Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura/Tracyanne & Danny) and a bass borrowed from Teenage Fanclub’s Francis MacDonald, the album was recorded in 2019 and is part of a shared universe alongside Kev’s critically acclaimed comic Warpaint (on global release next year, published by a legendary Franco/American comic company.)

Foxy Orthodoxy is a document of our times, exploring themes prevalent in Kev’s journalism – anarchism, feminism, gender politics, the ideological culture wars, the cult of personality and the hypocrisy of the human heart.

“Exciting, creative shapeshifting.” (BBC Radio Scotland)

“A radical charge of allegorical enchantment, ‘Wasted Days’ takes a formula of 90’s indie-rock era pop singularity, and simmers it to higher graft of shine.” (Comeherefloyd)

“An indie-pop delight from start to finish, with poignant lyricism included to make you think.” (UK Artist of the Week, The Vinyl District)

Kev Sherry

Kev Sherry
is a songwriter, indie musician, journalist, comic writer and novelist. He has performed in the indie guitar band Attic Lights since 2005 and released three critically acclaimed albums – “Friday Night Lights” (Island/Universal Records, 2008), “Super De Luxe” (Elefant Records, 2013) and “Love In The Time of Shark Attacks” (Elefant Records, 2019).

Kev has recently recorded his debut solo album, “Foxy Orthodoxy” which is part of a triptych involving the comic “Warpaint” and his debut novel “Here Be Apples.”

In music he has collaborated with international artist like Bjorn Yttling, Cerys Matthews and La Casa Azul and his songs have been remixed by Mogwai, Camera Obscura, The Fratellis, Jim Noir and The Vaselines. His music with Attic Lights has appeared on HBO’s comedy-drama Divorce, MTV’s Teen Mom, BBC’s The Culture Show, Hairy Bikers, The One Show, Sportscene, Channel 4’s Wife Swap, Come Dine With Me and ITV’s Scotsport and STV News.

His journalism focuses on themes of social justice, anarchism, feminist theory, cultural relativism and anti-authoritarianism. Yes – he wrote all this about himself.

Very occasionally he tries to surf, thus aiming to satisfy a teenage need to be in the movie Point Break.

He runs too. Very slowly, but quite far. Then he turns back and runs home after that, while listening to music at high volumes. This will probably damage his hearing in the years to come – but he has an absurd faith in the future possibilities of medical science.
