CODEX is the current project of Alfredo Tauber, who together with several of the best soloists of the national jazz scene perform original music from his discography, assembled with arrangements specially made for the Big Band format. Among the different languages that intermingle in his publications we can find hip hop, funk, reggae or swing, but all of them connected to the improvisation and communication typical of jazz. This album is a synthesis of my work over several years in different projects, so it seems to me that it is the sum of a little piece of each one, and of course, at the same time, a twig of the legacy of the Conchalí Big Band and Gerhard Mornhinweg, teacher and guide of several generations of active musicians in the Chilean jazz scene.

Alfredo Tauber
is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. He performs mainly in projects such as Mapocho Orquesta, La Brígida Orquesta, Pterodáctilo Rex, among others, while at the same time producing his own music. He was recently awarded in the category Best Jazz Album 2023 with his release CODEX BIG BAND, an orchestra of original music that brings together several of the musical styles in which he has ventured, as well as his heritage as an alumnus of the Conchalí Big Band. As a sessionist he has participated with renowned musicians and projects such as Ana Tijoux, Chancho en Piedra, Inti Illimani, Congreso, Mon Laferte, Gepe, Andres Pérez, Martin Benavides, the Viña Festival Orchestra, among many others. He is currently developing in parallel ‘CODEX Sexteto’ where he presents his music with a smaller ensemble, but accompanied by several of the best soloists of the Chilean jazz scene.
