Info for Now, You Know

Rosie Lowe has returned with a new mixtape, ‘Now, You Know’, released today in full via Blue Flowers. Forced, like many, to cancel her plans as the pandemic hit last Spring, Rosie Lowe retreated to a cabin in the Devon woods, converting a tiny shed into a studio to write in isolation. What emerged from those sessions was a playful, experimental, collection of songs - sparse, warped-vocal meditations ‘Freedom’ and ‘Say The Name’ juxtaposed with the groove-laden ‘I’ve Got You’ and ‘Would You Stay?’ and straightforward lyrical exorcisms on ‘No Idea’ or ‘Good Guy’. Empowered and emboldened following her departure after almost a decade from the Universal-owned Wolf-Tone Records, Lowe fully embraced her freedom to explore every creative impulse.

Continuing the creative process back in London; Rosie’s production took centre-stage, alongside contributions from Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Nick Hakim), Tom Henry (Gotts Street Park), AVI (Eska, Arlo Parks) and Tom Driessler (Yussuf Kamaal, Jordan Rakei) as well as a host of other new collaborators.

Says Rosie, “Not being able to physically be in a room with people crystallised the opportunity to see this project through on my own whilst collaborating remotely with different people I love and admire wherever they were based. I felt a new sense of freedom to be able to create something away from a label schedule and it left me with this strong desire to create something that captured where I was at without overthinking it.”

The result is Rosie Lowe’s most raw and unfiltered release to date, DIY by design and purposely undone at the seams. Taking its title from a postcard unearthed on a dig through her local Deptford market, its scrawled message from the past resonated with her compulsion to act on impulse. ‘Now, You Know’ became a mantra to encapsulate a new era of creative expression and the mixtape provides a snapshot of an artist who continues to forge a singular path and leave as many doors open as possible ahead of her highly anticipated third album.

‘Now, You Know’ is the first new solo material since Rosie Lowe’s much-loved second album, ‘YU’, which saw her named one of 6Music’s most played artists of 2019 and appear everywhere from COLORs to tours with Hot Chip, Jungle and Shura.

Rosie Lowe
Born in Devon, Rosie Lowe first burst on to the scene with her single ‘The Right Thing’ in 2013. Previously she had studied at the prestigious Goldsmiths in London following a childhood writing and performing music, influenced by her saxophonist dad. Rosie Lowe soon followed up the debut track with an LP titled ‘Control’ which was released in 2016 which featured a variety of atmospheric and captivating songs including the popular ‘Woman’. The enchanting song has gone on to feature in television shows such as the US series ‘Grown-ish’ and the Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried film ‘The Last Word’. After taking time out of the spotlight to write new material, Rosie Lowe returned in 2019 with her second album ‘Yu’ which explores the highs and lows of a relationship and contains influences from various other genres including pop and funk. The album was called ‘seductive minimalist soul’ by The Guardian and has received a wealth of positive reviews for its smooth R&B charm. Rosie Lowe is set to tour the UK to promote the album and has a rapidly growing fan base that even includes the likes of Elton John and Adele.
