Dmitri Schostakowitsch war einer der produktivsten und vielseitigsten Komponisten des 20. Jahrhunderts. In Fragen des musikalischen Geschmacks scheute er sich nie, Gebrauchs- und Unterhaltungsmusik zu schreiben. In all seinen Kompositionen kamen sein einzigartiges Gespür und die Fähigkeit zum Tragen, Groteske und Persiflage mit einfachen Formen zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Die vorliegende Aufnahme stellt diese besondere Fähigkeit Schostakowitschs eindrucksvoll unter Beweis. Die Suite für Varieté-Orchester (»Jazz Suite Nr. 2«), das Konzert für Klavier, Trompete und Streichorchester op. 35, und Das Goldene Zeitalter ergeben eine mitreißend-packende Mischung verschiedener Stilrichtungen: Klavierkonzert, Jazz und Varieté-Musik, gespickt mit Parodie, musikalischem Witz und fulminanter Virtuosität.

Die beiden jungen Solisten, der Pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi und der Trompeter Romain Leleu agieren souverän und mit technischer Brlllanz. Die Hörer erwartet eine energiegeladene und abwechslungsreiche Interpretation dieser drei handverlesenen Werke Schostakowitschs mit dem Brandenburgischen Staatsorchester unter der inspirierten Leitung von Howard Griffiths.

Antonii Baryshevskyi
is a prominent Ukrainian pianist and a winner of the First Prize in some of the most prestigious international piano competitions such as Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, “Premio Jaen”, and F. Busoni International Piano Competition. He is a solo artist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and teaches master classes in Ukraine and abroad. Baryshevskyi is a regular member of the International Summer Academy of Music in Ochsenhausen (Germany).

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1988, Baryshevskyi started playing the piano at the age of seven. He graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine and École Normale de Musique de Paris where he studied with Profs. Valerii Kozlov and Marian Rybicki. He also trained under A. Sorkina, R. Donskaya, L. Dorfman.

Baryshevskyi has been a guest of renowned festivals such as Progetto Martha Argerich, Klavier Ruhr festival, Busoni Festival, projects by Musica Insieme Fondazione, and others. Baryshevskyi performed at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, Kölner Philharmonie, The Royal Concertgebouw, Concert hall of the Mariinsky theater, and Teatro Comunale di Bologna. He performed in almost all European countries, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and the USA.

Baryshevskyi played with some of the leading European orchestras, including Munich Radio Orchestra, The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini under the baton of maestros Asher Fisch, Frederic Chaslin, Howard Griffiths, Oksana Lyniv, Kiril Karabits, and many others.​

Romain Leleu
Praised for his radiant tone and brilliant technique, French trumpet player Romain Leleu is one of the most versatile artists on his instrument.

In 2022 Romain Leleu launched his second album “Move” on the Harmonia Mundi International label paying tribute to major composers of film music. With stops to admire Nino Rota’s The Godfather and Ennio Morricone’s For a Fistful of Dollar, or Miles Davis’ Elevator to the Gallows and Michel Legrand’s The Young Girls of Rochefort, Romain Leleu takes us on a cinematic journey in the company of stellar associates: Ibrahim Maalouf, the Romain Leleu Sextet and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker led by Marcus Bosch. In 2022 Romain Leleu tours this program through Germany together with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker and Essener Philharmoniker.

With a repertoire, ranging from Baroque concertos to the 21st century, Romain Leleu appears as soloist with the main French orchestras (Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre du Capitol de Toulouse) as well as in many European countries, North and South America and Asia. He is a regular guest at leading festivals including La Roque d’Anthéron, Colmar, Radio France Montpellier, Folle Journée Nantes, Folle Journée Japan, Seoul Spring Festival and performs at the Bucharest Atheneum, Seoul Arts Center, Hermitage St Petersburg, Royal Albert Hall, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Luxembourg Philharmonie.

Romain Leleu also gives many performances with his Romain Leleu Sextet. They play their own arrangements for trumpet and string quartet from different musical styles, ranging from classical music to Tango, Jazz and film music. The last CD Face(s) à Face(s) contains works from Mozart, Vivaldi, Gershwin, Chaplin, Bernstein and Morricone.

Romain has premiered works by composers including Martin Matalon, Philippe Hersant, Karol Beffa, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Vincent Peirani and Baptiste Trottignon.

Romain’s discography includes recordings of Hummel, Haydn and Neruda trumpet concertos with the Baltic Chamber Orchestra, trumpet concertos by Jolivet, Delarue, Beffa, Robin and Matalon with the Orchestre d’Auvergne, Shostakovich concerto for trumpet and piano with Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, music for trumpet and organ with Thierry Escaich.

Romain Leleu studied trumpet in Paris with Eric Aubier and Reinhold Friedrich in Karlsruhe. He was awarded «instrumental soloist revelation» by the French Victoires de la Musique in 2009 and Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2016. Romain Leleu is an exclusive Yamaha Performing Artist.
