Info zu Feico Solo
Feico Solo is a collection of piano music released on February 9th in Europe and worldwide March 2nd 2018 by Zefir Records. It covers a wide range of contemporary composers from Philip Glass to Nils Frahm and includes both well-known and newer pieces.
The album was recorded on a Steinway D piano and beautifully engineered by Jakko van der Heijden. It features the famous acoustics of the Zeeuwse Concertzaal. One of the album highlights is the world premiere recording of Philip Glass's Mishima Sonata for piano. This is an arrangement that Feico made with permission of the composer of 3 movements from the world famous film score Philip Glass made of the movie Mishima and which is generally considered to belong to his strongest music.
Other works by Philip Glass on the album are Opening, Theme from Candyman and Etude No. 12. The album also includes well-known music from other composers such as China Gates by John Adams, Für Alina by Arvo Pӓrt and Wed by David Lang. It also features lesser known music by Ryuichi Sakamoto Opus and Energy Flow, as well as a new piece from Douwe Eisenga titled For Mattia.
A number of tracks are from younger composers such as Hammers and Went Missing by Nils Frahm, The Blue Notebooks and Written on the Sky by Max Richter and Together We Will Live Forever by Clint Mansell.
Feico Deutekom, piano
Feico Deutekom
had an early introduction to music through his father, a jazz musician. Learning the piano during his childhood, he studied the works and styles of classical composers, before turning more towards contemporary music.
Co-founder of the Attacca Ensemble, Feico has given concerts both as a pianist and as a singer of minimal and repetitive music ranging from Philip Glass, David Lang to Arvo Pӓrt. Highlights on the Ensemble's repertory are the concert version of Philip Glass' Einstein on the Beach, in which he sang and played keyboards, Glass Another Look at Harmony Part 4, Arvo Pӓrt's Kanon Pokajaanen and David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion. With harpist Lavinia Meijer the Attacca Ensemble performed a theatre program of Philip Glass music.
Feico is a regular guest performer at concerts of Philip Glass in The Netherlands. At these concerts he has performed music from Einstein on the Beach, Akhnaten, Music in Similar Motion, Hydrogen Jukebox, The Chase and The Photographer, as well as songs from The Book of Longing together with singer Tara Hugo.
Feico co-founded Floe Ensemble with which he made an overwhelming debut in October 2017, performing parts of the multi-media theatre work The Photographer by Philip Glass and director Rob Malasch.
