If you want to be transported back to the crazy 60s and the folk-blues mood of the American South, the album "Been Here And Gone" by the Texas guitarist and singer Steve Howell is an excellent probe. This time the artist realises a session in which his hits are mixed with standards and recordings previously known from thousands of numerous interpretations. It could not be otherwise, since the repertoire of "Been Here And Gone" is a set including country blues, rhythm'n blues, radio hits from the 60s, but also traditional Appalachian music and the trend so widely referred to as "American roots".

Singing guitarist Steve Howell and his The Mighty Men (guitarist Chris Michaels, bassist and organist Jason Weinheimer, drummer Dave Hoffpauir) create a collection of hits which, now played back decades later, are a kind of reference to what recent years have brought to this music. There is no chase for modernity and fashionable electronics, instead there is good, professional acoustic playing with full respect for tradition, past sounds and memories. This is a band of experienced musicians from the South of the USA, naturists having fun playing "americana" hits paying homage to the tradition of great songs and melodies. "Been Here And Gone" is an interesting proposition for all those for whom acoustic folk-blues, a bit of rock'n'roll spiced with blues and country is always a great opportunity to have fun.
