Véronique Gens und Susan Manoff standen 2024 als den Patinnen der Académie Orsay-Royaumont zur Seite. Unter ihrer Schirmherrschaft entstanden vier Duos aus jungen Sängern und Pianisten, die ein Programm zusammenstellten, in dem bildliche und musikalische Formen verwoben sind. Dazu gehören die Meister des Liedes und der Melodie - Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy, Henri Duparc - sowie weniger bekannte Komponisten wie Rebecca Clarke, Ivor Gurney oder Isang Yun. Das Album bei b-records präsentiert die erfolgreiche Arbeit der jungen Musiker.

Joël Terrin
The Swiss baritone Joël Terrin studied in Lausanne with Frédéric Gindraux before moving to London to work with Prof. Rudolf Piernay at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama in the Artist Diploma course. He also works with Dame Felicity Lott, Eugene Asti and François Le Roux.

He sang Maximilian in Bernstein’s Candide, the baritone solo in Weill’s Berliner Requiem, Melchior in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, Urbain in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, Perrückenmacher in Strauss’s Ariadne aux Naxos or Un Spirito in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo for the Opéra de Lausanne. He also created for the company a recital for children and a workshop during the Olympic Games for the Youth.

He’s been working with the London Symphonic Orchestra for several projects (Michael Tippett’s Discovery Day, soloist for Haydn’s Nelson Messe or curator of a recital in the series ‘Futures: the musical voices of our time’) and the Wigmore Hall (Schumann Study Group, Ravel Study Group, a contemporary music recital and a French mélodies recital). He’s part of the Wigmore Hall’s French Song Exchange that made possible his debut in Salle Cortot in Paris. He also recorded Glanert’s songs for the BBC.

Joël, who is a Samling artist, is a 2020 ambassador of song for the Oxford Lieder Festival, won the Migros competition in Switzerland and has received support from the Friedl Wald and the Colette Mosetti foundation. He also got the 2nd prize at the Kattenburg competition in Switzerland and the 2nd prize at the Somerset Song Prize in 2019. He also won the English Song Prize at GSMD.

Further projects include a recital for the Oxford Lieder Festival with pianist Cole Knutson, a Britten study group at Wigmore Hall and the title role in Christiné’s Dédé with the Opéra de Lausanne in 2021.

Emma Roberts
was a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio 22/23, as well as an Artist for Samling, Britten Pears and currently Orsay-Royaumont Académie 2023/24. A graduate of the University of Manchester, Emma went onto the Royal College of Music International Opera School where she graduated in 2022.

Emma was awarded the 3rd prize in the International Schumann competition 2024, 3rd prize Concurs International De Cant Josep Palet, 2nd prize & Loveday Song prize Ferrier 2022, and 1st Prize in the Joan Chissell Schumann 2022. ​

Recent engagements include covering the role of Lorca in Golijov’s Ainadamar for Welsh National Opera, RCM opera; Minskwoman in Flight, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Eduige Rodelinda, Third Lady Die Zauberflöte. Orfeo Orfeo ed Euridice with Barefoot Opera, title role in Mascagni’s Zanetto Barefoot Aalborg Opera Festival 2023. Emma performed a solo recital at Wigmore Hall in 2024, as well as recitals at the Red House in Snape, Aldeborough and Oxford Lieder Festivals. Emma has been mezzo soloist in performances such as Mahler 3 at Merton College Oxford, Verdi Requiem at University of Manchester, Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky conducted by Martin Brabbins. ​​ ​

Upcoming engagements in 2025 include recital at Musee d'Orsay in March, Elijah in Oxford at the Sheldonian Theatre with Opus48 choir in March, soloist in New Paths Music Festival in Beverley in April, Alvarez Emerging Artist (Polina cover in Tchaikovsky's Pique Dame) Garsington April - July.

Jeeyoung Lim
The multilingual Bass-baritone Jeeyoung Lim studied at the Korea National University of Arts where he studied under the tutelage of Prof. Hans (Hyunsoo) Choi, Hyuk Lee, and So Young Lee. He has recently finished his Konzertexamen degree at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin under the tutelage of Prof. Scot Weir, Prof. Thomas Quasthoff and Prof. Wolfram Rieger, where he also finished his Masters degree with the highest mark. Jeeyoung Lim has participated in masterclasses given by Thomas Hampson, KS Birgitte Fassbaender, DBE Ann Murray, Helmut Deutsch, Graham Johnson, Benjamin Appl, Charles Spencer, Peter Edelmann, Barbara Bonney, and Amanda Roocroft.

He has also taken part in festivals such as: Leeds Lieder Festival, Lied Basel Festival, and most recently the Eppaner Liedsommer Festival. He was invited again by KS Brigitte Fassbaender to give a Lied-Matinee at the Eppaner Liedsommer and also by Thomas Hampson to give a recital in January 2022 at the “Pierre Boulez Saal” in Berlin. He has also given concerts together with numerous world-class musicians such as: Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quasthoff, Graham Johnson and Antonello Manacorda.

Jeeyoung Lim has won numerous prizes such as: “Prize for Most Promising Future Talent” at the „Das Lied“ International Song Competition and most recently the “Britten Pears Young Artist Program Prize” at the Wigmore Hall Song Competition to become the first asian singer to win a prize at the competition.

Aside from singing on stage, Jeeyoung Lim is the founder/organizer of the Facebook page “Lied World”. He has founded this page to make German song popular in Korea. He introduces lesser-known songs to the public and also his own interpretation, and thoughts about the piece.

Jeeyoung Lim is a scholarship recipient of the Verein Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin e.V. and Lied Akademie des Internationalen Liedzentrums Heidelberg.

Iida Antola
is a versatile musician/artist, mostly working as an opera singer. She grew up in Finland but she considers herself a cosmopolitan – she was born in Taipei where she spent her early childhood, she studied and lived in Berlin and in France. At the moment she is based in Amsterdam. She is fluent Finnish, English, German and French.

She works primarily as soloist but she is also a trained pianist, choir conductor and a published composer. In spring 2022 she made her international debut as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strauss) at Opéra de Limoges and sang title roles of Suor Angelica (Puccini) in Berlin Alte Münze and Adina (Rossini) in Royal Opera Festival in Krakow (2022).

Her other recent important roles include the role of Bride in the Finnish premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s latest opera Innocence, a role which she covered at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2021; Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen) at Tampere Opera and Donna Elvira (Mozart: Don Giovanni) at Wien Palais Eschenbach (2020). She made her professional debut at the Finnish National Opera as Pamina in Mozart’s Magic Flute in 2017 and has since sung several principal roles there at the very beginning of her career, such as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (2018 & 2021), Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (2020) and Crobyle in Massenet’s Opera Thaïs (2019).

She has had success in various voice competitions. In summer 2022 she was awarded the Bel Canto Prize, Audience Prize and the Inge Borkh scholarship at the Rossini in Wildbad Festival. In 2021 she was a finalist in the prestigious ARD competition in Munich, Germany. In 2023 was awarded 1st prize at the Lappeenranta National Voice competition. Winning 1st prize in the Kangasniemi Competition in Finland back in 2017 resulted in her first working opportunities in Finland.

Besides opera she is also a passionate Lieder singer. This season (2023-2024) she is one of the laureates of Lied Academy d’Orsay-Royaumont with pianist Anni Laukkanen. Her debut CD “The Truth about Love” with pianist Kirill Kozlovski was published by Alba Records in 2023. She has given recitals in MozartFest Würzburg, Crescendo Festival Berlin, Ploiesti Philharmonic and Bucharest Atheneum and in Germany, France, the Netherlands and her native Finland. She won shared 2nd prize (1st prize wasn’t awarded) at the International Paula Salomon Lindberg Competition in Berlin in 2017 with pianist Daria Tudor and in 2018 she was a finalist in both the International Hugo Wolf Lied Competition in Stuttgart and the International Schubert Lied Duo Competition in Dortmund with pianist Anni Laukkanen.

She also has a vast oratorio and concert repertoire: She performed for example The Messiah (Handel), Requiem (Mozart), Requiem (Fauré), The Seasons (Haydn), Nelson-Messe (Haydn), Salve Regina (Haydn) and Paukenmesse (Haydn).

She is an experienced performer of contemporary music, she has perfect pitch and recently sang and conducted Pierrot Lunaire at the “Kaivos Festival” in Finland. She also premiered music in the “Klang” Festival in Helsinki and she can be heard as soloist on several recordings, including Veli-Matti Puumala’s opera Anna-Liisa (Ondine 2015), the Bermaniana male choir recording (Alba 2016), as well as the Helsinki Chamber Choir’s Bergman recording (BIS 2017). Publisher Sulasol has published her compositions.

Before her voice studies at Universität der Künste Berlin, she graduated as choir conductor and pianist from the Sibelius Academy. She has studied choir conducting in Finland under Timo Nuoranne and Prof. Matti Hyökki and in France under Nicole Corti (CNSMD Lyon). Between 2013-2015 she worked as a chorus master for many opera productions at the Sibelius Academy and she was also the artistic director of HOL, a high-level student choir in Helsinki. In 2015 HOL was awarded two golden stars at International Tampere Vocal Music Festival choir review and she was also awarded the prize for the best young conductor. Her dream is to combine conducting and singing. Her studies and artistic projects have been supported by grants from the Olga & Vilho Linnamo foundation, the Selim Eskelin foundation, the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Wihuri Foundation.
