Orsolya Korcsolan
has established herself as one of the most versatile artists of her generation. Her technical command and warm, compelling sound, combined with her spirit and elegant stage presence, have captured audiences around the world since her debut in New York's Paul Hall. Discovered and supported by Sir Georg Solti, the Juilliard alumna won numerous awards in New York before settling in the heart of the European music world in Vienna.
Her recent performance highlights have included appearances with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Chamber Soloists on the stage of the world-renowned Musikverein in Vienna. Korcsolan has served as ambassador for the Jewish Summer Festival in Budapest and as artistic advisor and artist-in-residence for the Vienna Jewish Festival, the "Missing Links" concert series at the Budapest Holocaust Memorial Centre and the Budapest Goldmark Festival. She is also founder and president of the Pro Arte Judaica Foundation, an organization nurturing Jewish culture in every art form.
The program of her critically-acclaimed debut album in 2011, "MOSAIC - Classical Jewish Compositions for Violin and Piano" - was premiered at the Jewish Summer Festival Budapest. That performance was followed by successful concert tours in Europe and North America.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Korcsolan graduated first at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in the class of Géza Kapás. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School in New York where she received her Master of Music degree. She studied there with Dorothy DeLay, Masao Kawasaki and Itzhak Perlman. In addition to performing, Korcsolan also presents lecture performances while completing her PhD at the Budapest University of Jewish Studies.
