Yuri Liberzon
Internationally acclaimed concert classical guitarist and recording artist Yuri Liberzon was born in Novosibirsk, Russia and raised in Israel. He has given countless concerts across the US, alongside numerous appearances in international media.

Liberzon has released three albums in collaboration with GRAMMY-winning sound engineer and producer Nahuel Bronzini: Ascension (2015), ¡Acentuado! (2017, Soundset Recordings), and J.S. Bach – 3 Violin Sonatas (2020, Laudable Records). Liberzon has transcribed the music of Scarlatti and J.S. Bach for guitar, and these have been published in Soundboard Magazine and distributed in Europe by Bergmann Edition.

While in Israel, Liberzon studied with Yaron Hasson, and was the recipient of multiple America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships and grants. In 2000, Liberzon relocated to the US to study for his Bachelor of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory with Manuel Barrueco, subsequently earning a Master of Music from Yale University with Benjamin Verdery, being awarded full scholarships at both institutions.

Hailed by the Baltimore Sun as an artist of “formidable talents,” this Russian-American guitarist has won many prestigious awards and performed around the world. As an Artist-in-Residence at Maryland’s prestigious Strathmore, Piotr served as the ambassador of the classical guitaR&By exposing audiences not only to the bread-and-butter Spanish repertoire but also through collaborations with the Hindustani violin, African dj be, and jazz saxophone. Mr. Pakhomkin has since performed in solo and concerto settings at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, Jordan Hall in Boston, Teatro Pablo de Villavicencio in Mexico, D.B. Clarke Auditorium in Montreal, New York’s Dweck Center for contemporary Culture and Panama’s historic National Theater. He was also a featured soloist for the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society, Washington, D.C. Guitar Society, Waterford Series, LiveArts Maryland, Washington County Museum Fine Arts Series and as a concerto soloist with the McLean Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica de las Artes, and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra. Piotr is the First Prize winner of the 2012 Mexican International Guitar Competition in Culiacan and has taken top prizes at the 2012 Boston GuitarFest International Guitar Competition, Great Lakes Guitar Competition, Montreal International Guitar Competition, and the European International Guitar Competition, “Enrico Mercatali” in Italy. As a teacher, Piotr is the director of Georgetown Guitar. Piotr completed his Master’s degree with legendary guitarist Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Institute. His debut commercial release, Baroque Adaptations, features the music of Bach, Abel, Tel ann, and Scarlatti. Since 2010, Piotr exclusively performs on guitars made by Ross Gutmeier with Savarez strings.
