Fabulous rock singer Luke Spiller is best known for being the flamboyant frontman of the rock band The Struts. He was recruited to sing one song by Mike Oldfield for his album, Man on the Rocks, but ended up singing main vocals on the whole album. He famously wears elaborate, brightly coloured clothes and his on-stage persona has been likened to that of Freddie Mercury. And, like the Queen frontman, Spiller has also been dressed by designer Zandra Rhodes. His talent as a frontman is often described as a force of nature and of being a physical, mesmerising entertainer who is vocally strong, expressive and blessed with excellent range.

Born in Bristol to a Christian family, Spiller’s exposure to music was mostly gospel music until at the age of seven he discovered Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall.He began playing in bands as a teenager, and started to sing when he was 16. He started writing music after meeting The Struts lead guitarist Adam Slack in 2009. Getting together with fellow musicians Jamie Binns and Rafe Thomas, the foursome then moved into a house together in Derby in 2010 and began making music full-time. In 2012, Binns and Thomas were replaced with bassist Jed Elliott and drummer Gethin Davies, and The Struts was formed. The band first gained notoriety after they opened for the Rolling Stones in front of an 80,000-strong crowd in Paris. As their reputation as a live band grew, their own audience increased, and their shows were frequently sold-out worldwide.
