Info for Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes And Wine
Luke Spiller is best known to many as the frontman for British rockers The Struts; however, Luke has been working away on his debut solo album, 'Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes and Wine', and that hard work has most definitely paid off.
The 10-track album is carefully curated with romantic, occasionally melancholic tracks nestled perfectly alongside larger-than-life theatrical performances, including the album's namesake and lead single, 'Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes and Wine', which wouldn't be out of place as part of a cinematic soundtrack. When reading about the track, there were references to this sounding like a James Bond score, and I have to agree; it would make a cracking choice for a Bond movie.
Underneath the theatrical sparkle, there is real substance and depth to the album. Luke's ability to write lyrics that really hit hard is evident in 'The Ending Is Always The Same', which is a song that will connect with people on an emotional level as well as being incredibly catchy. The song already has a celebrity endorsement, with the video for this track featuring the legend that is Noel Fielding.
The stripped-back acoustic sound of 'She's Just Like California' really showcases the subtle nuances in Luke's voice that set him apart from the crowd. The song is so chilled and laid back; it really is a great tune to relax to, in true contrast to the opening track 'Devil In Me', which has some incredibly powerful, gritty vocals from Luke, just another example of his vocal flexibility.
Spiller worked on the album with renowned producer Jon Levine (Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Drake) and guitarist/producer Jason Faulkner (St. Vincent, Air, Beck), and I think it is fair to say that they have created a stunning debut album that Luke should be very proud of.
“Everything you are about to hear is a door opening into my debut album that showcases my own personal experiences,” Spiller explains. “I’ve never been this honest in my music before, and it’s definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions. I hope people will find their own stories they have experienced within my songs, and in some cases, even find peace in doing so. I’m really excited for what the future has in store for me. This is only the beginning.” (Luke Spiller)

Luke Spiller
Fabulous rock singer Luke Spiller is best known for being the flamboyant frontman of the rock band The Struts. He was recruited to sing one song by Mike Oldfield for his album, Man on the Rocks, but ended up singing main vocals on the whole album. He famously wears elaborate, brightly coloured clothes and his on-stage persona has been likened to that of Freddie Mercury. And, like the Queen frontman, Spiller has also been dressed by designer Zandra Rhodes. His talent as a frontman is often described as a force of nature and of being a physical, mesmerising entertainer who is vocally strong, expressive and blessed with excellent range.
Born in Bristol to a Christian family, Spiller’s exposure to music was mostly gospel music until at the age of seven he discovered Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall.He began playing in bands as a teenager, and started to sing when he was 16. He started writing music after meeting The Struts lead guitarist Adam Slack in 2009. Getting together with fellow musicians Jamie Binns and Rafe Thomas, the foursome then moved into a house together in Derby in 2010 and began making music full-time. In 2012, Binns and Thomas were replaced with bassist Jed Elliott and drummer Gethin Davies, and The Struts was formed. The band first gained notoriety after they opened for the Rolling Stones in front of an 80,000-strong crowd in Paris. As their reputation as a live band grew, their own audience increased, and their shows were frequently sold-out worldwide.
