Goran Filipec
was born in 1981 in Rijeka, Croatia. Already, during the first years of his musical education, he received early recognition as an extraordinary talent, performing numerous concerts in Croatia and abroad. His charismatic performances inspired praise from these world famous pianists: Ivo Pogorelich: “His great pianistic abilities and originality of musical ideas make this pianist unique and original.”

Goran Filipec is an extraordinary interpreter of Franz Liszt's piano music, and has dedicated a great part of his creative work to the great composer. His wide repertoire also consists of some of the most important cycles of the piano literature, including Liszt’s "Years of Pilgrimage"; the complete Chopin Etudes; the Paganini, Liszt and Busoni Etudes; and the five Beethoven piano concertos. Goran won the coveted Croatian national piano contest in 1995, 1997, and 1999, and was the winner of many other awards in his native country, including Second Place at the Lions Grand Prix in 1995; First Prize at the Istria Noblissima contest in 1997, 1999 and 2002, First P:rize at Lions Grand Prix in 1997, and First Place at the Rijeka Music Contest, in 1998.

He studied at the Mirkovich Academy with Professor Marina.
