Lea Brückner
lives musical diversity and does not believe in the profile of a 21st-century artist who exclusively focuses on music, detached from societal events. She was born in 1997 to German-Czech parents. At the age of 7, she discovered the violin and early on participated in competitions such as “Jugend musiziert,” winning awards up to the national level. In her early years, she received lessons in the S-Class, a top support program at the Folkwang Music School in Essen, followed by a Bachelor’s degree with Prof. Emile Cantor at the Folkwang University of the Arts and a Master’s degree with Summa cum Laude in March 2023.

She attended masterclasses with Detlef Hahn, Boris Garlitsky, Tanja Becker-Bender, Erik Schumann, Julia Fischer, and Aleksey Igudesman, among others. In 2021, she was a finalist in the International Kreutzer Competition in Belgium. In 2023, she received the Platinum award, the 1st prize, in the “Modern” category at the World Classical Music Awards, as well as the first prize at the “International Birmingham Music Competition”. Regular contact with her second homeland, the Czech Republic, and Prof. Bohuslav Matousek at the Prague Music Academy also fostered her musical development.

Concerts took her to the International Music Days in Hesse, the “Essen-Original” Festival, the Beethoven Society in Bonn, and the FiraB! Festival in Spain.

From 2019-2021, she was concertmaster at the Musiklandschaft Westfalen both in the Festival Philharmonic and the chamber ensemble under the Hungarian violinist Jozsef Lendvay.

A key characteristic of the young violinist is her continuous new ideas to support or even develop new social projects.

For example, she developed the concert series “Children Play for Children,” performed for animal rights activist Ralf Seeger and his team (show “Harte Hunde” on Vox), funded a six-month German course for 30 refugees through a concert with the International Bund, and enabled children and adolescents to participate in art courses in collaboration with the youth welfare office through another concert, thus giving them access to culture.

In 2021, Lea founded the initiative “Music for our Planet,” with which she, together with other artists like the Stuttgart Philharmonic or the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and other orchestras, advocates for more sustainability in the music industry. Since then, invitations as a speaker and musician have taken her to the Bundestag in Berlin, the world fair “Classical:Next,” or the World Food Forum of the United Nations in Rome and in front the Pope’s deputy, not only to perform but also to speak as a climate ambassador about the necessity of climate protection and sustainability in culture. In this context, she is also the moderator for the unique concert series “Green Monday” at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf for the 2023/2024 season.

In July 2022, she received her second Master’s degree in “Cultural and Media Management” from KMM in Hamburg.

For 2024, she is the Ambassador of the “Nicola Benedetti” Foundation. Additionally, she won the “Larsen-GEWA-Scholarship” and is collaborating with “Larsen Strings” and “GEWA” in 2024.

She uses her steadily growing social media channels for both social issues and to introduce classical music to a new audience, with videos garnering over 1.2 million views.
