Info for Robin Holloway: Trios

Robin Holloway is one of Britain's most commissioned composers. This disc was recorded in his presence and released to celebrate his 75th birthday year. Rest Ensemble presents sparkling performances of three chamber works, beautifully capturing the music's many facets - lyricism, invention, virtuosity, playfulness, poetry, warmth and joyful exuberance. A disc of real significance!

"An introspective, brooding work, it's compellingly played by young violist Henrietta Hill. Performances throughout are excellent, with wind soloists Oliver Pashley and Rees Webster outstanding in the two trios. Holloway’s own sleeve notes are informative and unpretentious." (The Arts Desk)

The Ensemble Rest
was founded by Rebecca Raimondi, Michele Marco Rossi and Alessandro Viale, the Rest Ensemble is a flexible ensemble dedicated to both baroque and contemporary music, often in juxtaposition. It performs regularly in London and in Italy and in 2018 was featured in the magazine Musica+. In addition to its interest in the music of Robin Holloway, it has also championed the work of Riccardo Malipiero.

Henrietta Hill

She recently graduated with an MPerf from Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she studied with Matthew Jones and is currently in her second year as a Strings Fellow. She has performed with the Wihan Quartet, and is a member of Ensemble Nova Luce, Bach String Quartet and the Duruflé Trio. Henrietta is a MMSF Viola Fellow with the Philharmonia Orchestra 2016-2018.
