Info for Joy Alone
Presenting the major singers of today and the stars of tomorrow, the Rosenblatt Recitals are London’s only world-class season of opera recitals. This third batch of CDs from the partnership with Opus Arte are based predominantly on studio recordings with occasional bonus live tracks.
The young American soprano, a protégé of Plácido Domingo, has enjoyed recent opera house triumphs in Valencia and at the English National Opera in 2013. Following her acclaimed Wigmore Hall recital in 2013, this Rosenblatt Recital CD is an upcoming studio recording (July 2014) and will feature songs by Richard Strauss, Rachmaninov (including the famous Vocalise), Adam and the African-American composer Jake Heggie, plus a selection of Zarzuelas. She will be accompanied by the noted accompanist and broadcaster, Iain Burnside.
“never before has a burn come simply from listening to a vocal recital...you can easily see why she shot to fame at Los Angeles Opera...She’s so sultry, dramatic and spine-tingling. Her manner and tone is so impressive, indeed, that it takes several seconds before you spot the flaw: indistinct words.” (The Times)
Angel Blue, soprano
Iain Burnside, piano
