Info for The Singles: Echoes from the Edge of Heaven (Remastered)

Celebrating 40 years of one of the biggest and best-loved pop acts of all time, this is what the fans have been waiting for - Wham! The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven. The set contains all the singles (A and B sides).

This is what WHAM! fans have been waiting for! Sony Music releases a collection of the UK's most popular pop duo. WHAM! The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven collects all the hits George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley released in their short but incredibly successful career. Starting with the 1982 track Young Guns (Go For It) to the 1986 track The Edge Of Heaven. Plus other unforgettable songs like WHAM! RAP! (Enjoy What You Do), Bad Boys, Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Freedom, Last Christmas, Everything She Wants and I'm Your Man!

George and Andrew formed WHAM! in 1981, having known each other since their school days in the small English town of Bushey. Of course, no one could have guessed at the time that the friends would later become one of the most internationally successful pop acts with over 30 million albums sold worldwide.

WHAM! released eleven singles and had enormous success: five singles ("Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Freedom", "Last Christmas", "I'm Your Man" and "The Edge Of Heaven") reached number one in the UK charts and in the USA Michael and Andrew climbed to pole position with "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Careless Whisper" and "Everything She Wants". Remarkably, all these songs were from the same album - "Make It Big" - which sold over six million copies in the US alone. WHAM! also made it to the top of the charts in other parts of the world, in Australia, Canada, France, Holland, Italy, Ireland, South Africa and Switzerland.

In 1985 WHAM! became the first group from the West to perform in China, breaking through cultural barriers with two spectacular concerts.

THE BIG TOUR, on which the pop duo presented their multi-platinum album "Make It Big" in 1984 and '85, took the two musicians through Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, Australia, the USA, Hong Kong and China. Only a few months later, the WHAMAMERICA! Stadium Tour started only a few months later and thrilled hundreds of thousands of fans in the USA in the summer of 1985.

Because a grand career deserves a grand finale, WHAM! said goodbye in front of 70,000 spectators at London's Wembley Stadium with one last joint performance, featuring Elton John as special guest.

The friendship between George and Andrew has lasted all these years - a rarity in showbiz, which is not really known for the durability of friendships or relationships.

Wham!

George Michael
was a ground-breaking British pop artist who has sold more than 120 million records worldwide. Starting out as one half of the highly successful music duo Wham!, he went on to enjoy a glittering solo career spanning three decades.

His Grammy award-winning debut album Faith was a critical and commercial success that established Michael as a global musical force and style icon, elevating him to superstar status.

Further No.1 albums followed including Listen Without Prejudice, Older and Patience as well as hit songs like the global anthems ‘Freedom! ‘90’, ‘Jesus To A Child’ and ‘Outside’.

Andrew Ridgeley
(born 26 January 1963) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was a member (with George Michael) of the music duo Wham!.

Ridgeley was born in Windlesham, Surrey to Jennifer and Albert Ridgeley. His mother is British and his father is Franco-Egyptian. Ridgeley grew up in Bushey, Hertfordshire, and attended Bushey Meads School. His mother was a schoolteacher at Bushey Heath Primary School and his father worked for Canon.[1] When George Michael was enrolled at the school, Ridgeley volunteered to take him under his wing.[1]

After years of playing in various music groups, Michael and Ridgeley formed Wham! They then approached various record labels with a homemade tape (which took ten minutes to record in Ridgeley's living room), and signed with Innervision Records. According to I'm Coming to Take You to Lunch, a book written by Wham's manager, Simon Napier-Bell, the band left Innervision after the first album and signed to CBS.

This album contains no booklet.
