Info for Glenn Gould Gathering
Using carefully treated noise and a modulated guitar, Fennesz paints a “beautiful landscape.” With his 2001 album, “Endless Summer,” he made a strong impression on the electronic music scene. Later, along with David Sylvian, Fennesz broadened his expressive boundaries in his 2004 album “Venice” through electronic music. Starting with the performance with Ryuichi Sakamoto in 2004, in 2005, the two released their joint album, “Sala Sante Cecillia” (CD EP) which included recordings of their concert from the previous year, and in 2007 the two released a full album, “Cendre” (RZCM-45525) under the name Fennesz+Sakamoto. Also in 2007, Fennesz joined YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA for their European tour. This fifth studio album, which is his first in 4 years, shows an effect of his collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto. Compared to his earlier work, the melody contains the nuances of his guitar, and although the noisy electronic sounds are scattered throughout the track, the sound has become comforting. This is the latest model of genre-transcending, universal music created by the 21st century’s leading runner of electronic music.
