Info for Twenty Seventeen (Live)

The danish band Jonah Blacksmith counts brothers and founders Simon and Thomas Alstrup, who gathered four musicians and longtime friends back in 2011. The sonic landscape draws a fine line to the wilderness of the band members' childhood area in the north-west of Denmark, where the North Sea meets weathered forests and rough moorland scenery. The music is about roots and relations. It is about the joy of loving along with the fear of losing. The soundscape combines a melodic, wooden intimacy of vocals and hand played instruments with the great width of atmospheric energy, where the pedal-steel guitar brushes with melancholic yet warm colors. The dynamic range of the six-piece band is wide and goes from conversation-like passages to bombastic orchestral parts with walls of sound and energy.
