The Protean Quartet, winner of the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition 2022, makes its Linn debut with an eclectic and cross-temporal programme. Starting with polyphony, the versatile young quartet ventures on a journey through time, from Purcell's Pavan Z. 752, Chacony Z. 730 and the dance from the opera Dioclesian to Schubert's String Quartets Nos. 4 and 13 ("Rosamunde") and Josquin's famous "Mille regretz". The wide range of these works enables the outstanding musicians of the Protean Quartet to utilise the full extent of their artistic qualities.
