Info for Journey

The Four EvangCellists
is a cello quartet, which was founded in October 2008. All four members were students at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, Germany, and were educated by Professor Brunhard Böhme and Professor Maria-Luise Leihenseder-Ewald. The name of the quartet developed due to the fact, that the cellists share their forenames with the four evangelists (Matthew, Marc, Luke and John).
The Four EvangCellists are very versatile in their choice of repertoire. Their programme includes works originally written for cello quartet and arrangements. They have a very broad repertoire from classical serenades and famous opera arias to tangos and ragtimes, and are continually looking for new styles and influences.
The ensemble has played throughout Germany, it´s concerts praised by press and public alike. In autumn 2011 they released their first album "cellopera", a collection of 19 Arias and Intermezzos from 14 operas. The three chosen arrangers selected 10 composers, enabling this unique project, that is over 70 minutes of Opera classics in a chamber setting, to come to fruition.
