Info for Tomorrow We'll Figure Out the Rest
Multi-award-winning Norwegian jazz singer and songwriter Silje Nergaard presents her new album "Tomorrow We'll Figure Out the Rest." This is a deeply personal tribute to her parents and a musical journey inspired by memories, moments with her family, and scenes from their lives.
"'Tomorrow We'll Figure Out the Rest' is not just the title of an album, but also what defines living in the moment—the permission not to have to have everything perfectly thought out," explains Silje Nergaard. "This inspiration comes from a source very close to me: my parents. They showed me how much joy music can bring into a home—the joy and also the sadness it brings to our hearts. They taught me that life doesn't always have to be planned down to the last detail."
With her special ability to tell moving stories through music, Silje combines intimate jazz sounds with orchestral arrangements on "Tomorrow We'll Figure Out the Rest." She is accompanied by leading European jazz musicians, including Helge Lien (piano), Jarle Vespestad (drums), Finn Guttormsen (bass), George (Jojje) Wadenius (guitar), and Håkon Kornstad (saxophone). The ensemble is complemented by the renowned Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vince Mendoza, who composed the emotionally colorful, at times almost cinematic orchestral arrangements for the album. Mendoza and Nergaard previously collaborated on the Grammy-nominated album "A Thousand True Stories."
The personal insights that Silje Nergaard has incorporated into this album are particularly moving: "It has a few small moments that show what my life was like as a child. I found an old cassette tape of me talking to my father – I was just five years old at the time. It features my sister, my parents, and me singing together. These recordings touched me deeply, and I'm happy to share them with you."
The album combines the intimate atmosphere of a chamber jazz ensemble with the majestic sound of a large orchestra. Silje Nergaard describes it as a collection of memories that solemnly relive the past, but also offer a hopeful look into the future. "The cover of the album shows an old photo of my parents when they were young and newly in love – a moment of pure musical joy, with no thought for the next day. This image and this mood inspired me."
With "Tomorrow We'll Figure Out the Rest," Silje Nergaard demonstrates once again why she is one of the most outstanding artists on the jazz scene: personal, authentic, and musically brilliant.
