Info for Crossover
The new album of Kolsimcha with the London Symphony Orchestra is a truly independent record, as it was entirely financed through crowd funding, and therefore could be produced with total artistic freedom and with no pressure from record companies. Producer, composer and pianist Olivier Truan orchestrated the 16 tracks and created an unique style which resonates throughout the album. The orchestra was not mis-used as a background, but is an equal partner of the band. When hearing the album it often feels as if a large band was playing - not a bunch of soloists with accompanying orchestra. Recorded with vintage microphones at the world famous Abbey Road Studio 1 and mixed and mastered entirely on analog equipment at Idee&Klang Studio, this album will blow you away with it's breathtaking sound quality and it's mesmerizing music. Over 70 minutes of music for mind, body and soul, from delicate ballads to powerful tutti parts in odd rhythms.
'it’s really spectacular. Please believe me when I say this is genuinely one of the most refreshing albums I’ve worked on in a while - the level of music & music-making is so good for the soul - you’re in my top 10 of all!' (Jonathan Allen, Senior Engineer, Producer at Abbey Road Studios)

Kolsimcha
Since their formation in 1986, the unique sound of Kolsimcha has captivated and enthralled the demanding audiences at New York’s Carnegie Hall and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as those at the most renowned jazz, classical and world music festivals on three continents.
Through their original musical language, sheer enthusiasm and virtuosity, they create a concert atmosphere unlike any other group. It is guaranteed to have the listeners cheering on their feet.
Hailed by the LA Times as the “fantastic five”, this incredible ensemble pairs a front line of clarinet and flute with a super tight rhythm section of acoustic bass, drums and piano to create a groundbreaking mix of thrilling jazz improvisations, dazzling symphonic sounds and exotic Mediterranean melodies alternating with poignant ballads and sensuous Eastern European rhythms.
Their music has been described as everything from “a new world music” (The Independent) to “anatomically impossible” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). As well as appearing at most of the major European venues and festivals, Kolsimcha has provided the music for celebrated inter- national theatre, dance and movie productions.
