Info for Gaubert: Works for Violin, Cello, and Piano
Gaubert was a great master of the flute, but it is often forgotten that he began with the violin, which enabled him to support his family. He truly was a violinist, as attests the Concerto, released three years ago, as well as the Violin Sonata and Quatre Esquisses - two world premieres - which ideally exploit the instrument’s lyricism and delicacy of colours. But the cello is not to be outdone: already present on the orchestral disc, it is present here in highly virtuosic pieces.
Finally, another premiere: the Trois Aquarelles in the original instrumentation for violin (indicated before the flute), cello and piano, so this will be a discovery.
Need we introduce the artists? It would be impossible to find better for reintroducing a great and particularly appealing composer.
