Info for 30 Traps
Colorful, captivating and bold: The trio of Marie Krüttli synthesizes with singularity the forces of Swiss jazz. This pianist is a UFO in the world of jazz. At 26, she imposed an original voice and a way for her to make the piano-double bass-drums trio ring.
Sharp rhythmic and harmonic language, bewitching virtuosity, powerful ideas, mature sound and unambiguous aesthetics. Interpreted with “groove” and lightness, this music speaks to the body and heart.`
"But what truly distinguishes her from many of her peers is her confident and straightforward delivery of a vast array of original musical ideas. Deeply indebted to composers such as Stravinsky, Debussy and Ravel (both her parents are classical musicians), she is at home in a wide range of dazzling melodic patterns, effortlessly mastering the most sophisticated chord changes."
"Jazz needs Trios like this" (Bruce Lindsay, All About Jazz)

She recorded an album What Do I Miss with notable New York musicians which was released in October 2016. She won scholarships from the Friedlwald Foundation and from the Langnau Jazz Night piano competition. Marie and her trio also won the ZKB Jazz Preis 2016.
