Info for Plays Duke Ellington
The Paris Swing Collective takes on the air of a Big Band and pays tribute to the music of the brilliant American pianist and arranger Duke Ellington. From his beginnings in New Orleans to his greatest hits. The Paris scene has always held a special place in the hearts of great American jazzmen such as Sydney Bechet, Benny Goodman and Josephine Baker. The Paris Swing Collective pays a vibrant tribute to the jazz of the 20s and 30s, which was shaken up by the emergence of this new music. A reference point for swing music in Paris, the Collectif has built up a solid reputation by rocking the walls of Parisian clubs such as the Caveau de la Huchette, the Bellevilloise and the Bal Blomet. The programme includes the stride of Fats Waller, the flights of Sidney Bechet and Benny Goodman, not forgetting Glenn Miller and Louis Armstrong. Freely inspired by swing, the Collectif rediscovers the freshness and artistic creativity of the Roaring Twenties, when music and celebration were one. An explosive evening of syncopation, rhythm and improvisation!

The Collectif Paris Swing
founded in 2017, has quickly become the reference in Europe with the cream of the crop of musicians from the Parisian jazz scene!
In just a few months, this explosive group has built a solid reputation by rocking Parisian clubs such as the Caveau de la Huchette, the Bellevilloise or the Bal Blomet.
On the programme, the greatest "standards" of American jazz such as Fats Waller's Stride, Sidney Bechet's flights of fancy or Benny Goodman's themes, not forgetting Glenn Miller and Louis Armstrong...
The influence and carefree spirit of the Roaring Twenties, when Charleston and Black Bottom cared little for the Great Depression and Prohibition was coming to an end, is felt.
A festive opening night of complicity, rhythm and improvisation!
