How much is possible with just three musicians? How little? The trio "Bird's Free Funk" plays calm and melody followed by groove and beats in original compositions, opening up a new world with a minimal line-up. Intense and gripping, with the search for beauty of sound, in which each musician bears maximum responsibility, the trio plays its way from swing to Latin jazz to modern compositions. The three musicians from Hanover and Berlin try to give jazz their own touch, away from too much and towards the most necessary, the most musical, the most beautiful.

Johannes Metzger
is a drummer and composer living in Berlin. After graduating from high school, he studied jazz percussion with Heinz Lichius at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. In 2015, he moved to Berlin to continue his studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin with John Hollenbeck, Jim Black, Oliver Steidle, Kurt Rosenwinkel and others.
