Info for Opening Night - Mozart, W.A.: Clarinet Quintet, K. 581 / Brahms, J.: Clarinet Quintet, Op. 115
This exceptional live recording of clarinetist Mark Nuccio, Principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic, supported by a stellar string quartet presents a lively interpretation of Mozart and Brahms’ clarinet quintets.
Recorded at the private concert hall of conductor, Loren Maazel in Castleton, VA, these pieces stand at the peak of clarinet repertoire. We feel that the title, “Opening Night,” best showcases Mark’s virtuosity during this live performance, as well as his first solo effort. Critics have praised Nuccio for both solo and chamber appearances, citing his “first-rate solos,” “fluent shaping of lines,” and “effortless soft playing.”
