Info for Schumann Cello & Piano Works
The name proposed for this programme comes from the title of the poem by Heinrich Heine that Robert Schumann set to music in the 11th piece of his song cycle for voice and piano "Dichterliebe" (Poet's Love) Opus 48, written in the year of his marriage to Clara. This poem may sum up the well-known love of both Brahms and Schumann for the master's daughter they shared. The aim is to bring the public closer to the language of our protagonists through the genres most cultivated by them, such as lyric and fantasy in short pieces, in the case of Robert and Clara, and the sonata, one of the forms most cultivated by César Franck.
