Biography Äneas Humm & Renate Rohlfing
Äneas Humm
The Swiss baritone Äneas Humm is a welcome guest at numerous concert venues and opera houses in Europe and is considered to be one of the most promising newcomers of our time. Immediately following his opera debut at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven at the age of 18, concert engagements followed in Europe and America. Critics praise his clear and expressive singing.
In 2014, Swiss Television broadcasted a program about him that was distributed throughout Europe.
He received his training as a child with the Zürcher Sängerknaben and then later at the Voralberger Landeskonservatorium, where he studied viola and singing. At the age of 17 he began studying with the Hungarian soprano Krisztina Laki at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, with whom he also studied while working towards his bachelor’s degree. Instrumental in his development is his work with the conductor and artistic director Thomas Albert. He regularly performs with the Sinfonieorchestra Liechtenstein, the Arp Schnittger Ensemble, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Winterthurer Symphoniker and the Bremer Philharmoniker. As a lied singer, he works together with the pianists Babette Hierholzer and Judit Polgar, giving song recitals at prestigious chamber music series and festivals. His New York debut was described as a great discovery; since then he has repeatedly been presented by the German Forum to the New York public in lied and duet recitals.
Since September 2017 he has been studying with Edith Wiens at The Juilliard School.
