La Porta Musicale
The baroque violinist Gabriele Steinfeld and the harpsichordist Anke Dennert are both long-established specialists on historical instruments and experienced chamber musicians in early music. Following their enthusiastically received debut, the two native Hamburg musicians formed the duo LA PORTA MUSICALE in 2012. Since then they have been giving rousing concerts that are not only dedicated to the stars of the 17th and 18th centuries but also to seldom-heard works by forgotten composers. In original programs that bring the musical culture of the past to life through the addition of entertaining and informative presentations, they take their audience into the world of courtly chamber music. Through workshops (Vivaldi and Telemann) they make young audiences enthusiastic about the beauty and distinctive features of this charming music. The duo dedicates itself mainly to baroque repertoire from North Germany and Italy.
Gabriele Steinfeld
studied violin at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Kolja Blacher, in Detmold with Matthias Tacke, and on the baroque violin with Petra Müllejans in Frankfurt. Following her studies, she worked in Rome – the center of virtuoso baroque violin music – with Concerto Italiano, as well as in Cologne, where she performed together with ensembles such as Concerto Köln and Musica Antiqua Köln. She has lived in Hamburg since 2007 and currently works as a freelance musician with various ensembles, including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Hamburg Ratsmusik, Elbipolis, Capella Augustina and La Chambre Philharmonique in Paris. She participated in more than 50 CDs and can be regularly heard at home and abroad, both as a soloist and as an ensemble member in concerts as well as in radio and television broadcasts.
Anke Dennert
first studied recorder and harpsichord at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg. Her enthusiasm for the harpsichord and its fascinating, wide-ranging repertoire led her to major in keyboard instruments. After studying with Robert Kohnen in Brussels and Andreas Staier in Cologne, she completed her performance degree in harpsichord and clavichord in Hamburg with Gisela Gumz. The musician has set much of her focus on the revival of forgotten works, in particular compositions by female composers. She has recorded the sonatas by Anna Bon di Venezia on the Aeolus label. Anke Dennert is also a member of Ensemble Obligat in Hamburg and Toutes Suites in San Diego. In 2016 she recorded Georg Philipp Telemann’s Solo Overtures on the GENUIN Classics label on a harpsichord by Christian Zell (Hamburg, 1728). Anke Dennert teaches historical keyboard instruments and figured bass at the Hamburg Conservatory and offers courses in early music.
