Biography Ensemble Mark Rothko featuring Albane Carrère and Benjamin Bernstein

The Mark Rothko ensemble
was created in 2011 from the encounter of some of north eastern Italy’s best string players. Its members share a wide array of professional experiences in the chamber music, solo, orchestra and education fields to promote a magnificent repertoire that audiences are not often given an occasion to listen to.

Getting part of their education from the Quartetto Italiano and the Trio di Trieste, Carlo Lazari, Benjamin Bernstein and Marianna Sinagra performed all over the world and recorded for some major labels. They have played as principals in the main Italian orchestras (La Scala Milan, La Fenice Venice, Arena Verona, Teatro Verdi Trieste, Toscanini Orchestra Parma) and abroad (Israel philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil and the Moscow soloists) as well as teaching in various Italian conservatories.

The group has played for many important concert seasons, often as a string quintet, thanks to their partners and members of the ensemble the violinist Valentino Dentesani and violist Mario Paladin. Their repertoire includes all the works written for this combination of instruments, from the classical period to contemporary music, eventually enlarging themselves to become a sextet or an octet or a quintet with flute and harp together with Giorgio Di Giorgi and Nicoletta Sanzin, or for special projects together with world renowned instrumentalists.
