Info for Sensations
"Gautier Capuçon plays what many people love, and he plays it masterfully," wrote ndr. de about the exceptional cellist. To exhaust all facets of his instrument, he repeatedly breaks through the usual cello repertoire. In his current album Sensations, Capuçon now presents cello arrangements to pieces from classical music, pop and chanson. "The cello is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful melodic instruments to travel and explore these different universes," the famous Frenchman reveals the origin of his passion for discovery. "While I have been playing some of these pieces for a few years, others have been specially arranged for this new album."
With Sensations, Gautier Capuçon - even more than with his two previous public successes Intuition and Emotions - focuses on the rapid succession of varied musical gems. Famous compositions from the pens of Puccini and Prokofieff alternate with evergreens such as Singinʼ in the Rain, atmospherically dense film music classics and popular chansons such as La Vie en Rose.
Capuçon's accompaniment is just as diverse as the works themselves: With his album, the classical music star gives newcomers in particular a podium. In addition to the two celebrated new discoveries of Opus Klassik 2021, Egyptian soprano Fatma Said and trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary, six students from Capuçon's master class also make music alongside him. The promising young German conductor Johanna Malangré leads the Orchestre National de Bretagne.
